1. Assessment Philosophy
KASI subscribes to an outcomes-based, competence-focused assessment approach. All assessment is:
- Valid: Assesses what it claims to assess
- Reliable: Consistent results across assessors and occasions
- Fair: Free from bias; reasonable accommodations for learners with special needs
- Transparent: Criteria communicated to learners in advance
- Sufficient: Enough evidence collected to make a competence judgment
2. Types of Assessment

3. Assessment Evidence Requirements
Knowledge Modules (KM): Written assessments, case studies, and assignments aligned to Internal Assessment Criteria (IAC).
Practical Skill Modules (PM): Portfolio of evidence demonstrating practical application. Each submission must be the learner’s own original work, submitted via the KASI LMS by the specified deadline, accompanied by a declaration of authenticity.
Work Experience Modules (WM): Logbooks, mentor sign-offs, and workplace evidence as specified per module.
4. Deadlines and Late Submission
- Deadlines are communicated at module commencement via the LMS
- Late submissions (without prior approval) will be penalised at 10% per working day late
- Extensions may be granted by the Facilitator with supporting documentation
- Submissions more than 5 working days late without approval will not be accepted
5. Results and Competence Judgments
- Results are: Competent (C) or Not Yet Competent (NYC)
- Learners who receive NYC are entitled to one reassessment opportunity per assessment
- Results communicated within 5 working days (formative) and 10 working days (summative)
6. Moderation
- A minimum of 10% of all summative assessments are moderated by a qualified moderator
- All assessors and moderators hold relevant ETDP SETA or equivalent registrations
- Moderation reports are maintained for SETA audit purposes
7. Academic Integrity
Plagiarism, copying, fabrication, or any other form of academic dishonesty will result in an NYC result for the assessment concerned, referral to the KASI Disciplinary procedure, and possible reporting to the SETA and SAQA.
8. Appeals Against Assessment Decisions
Appeals must be submitted within 10 working days of result notification to info@edukasi.tech. Refer to the KASI Appeals & Grievance Procedure.
